Advent Season

This Advent verify your longing for God

Welcome to the season of Advent! This Sunday the first Sunday of Advent each year the Church invites us to embark on a great journey - the journey of a new liturgical year. The purpose of Advent is to help us prepare for Christmas - His first coming in humility in Bethlehem (which we celebrate at Christmas); and His second coming in majesty and power at the end of time. St. Paul says that each passing year “our salvation is nearer than we first believed.” Let us reflect for a moment on how much we need the Lord’s salvation in our lives and in the world.

“Advent is the time we are given to welcome the Lord who comes to encounter us, and also

to verify our longing for God, to look forward and prepare ourselves for Christ’s return.”
Pope Francis, Angelus, 3rd December 2017

Novena Prayer in Preparation for the Celebration of Christmas

HAIL and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of our saviour Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother.

Amen. Our Father ….. Hail Mary …..
Glory be to the Father…...
