Uganda Martyrs Catholic School

Our Mission Statement which states that “our mission is to develop young active minds through positive role models and creative learning opportunities in a conducive environment for the holistic development of each child.”

 

Our vision is to achieve greater performance through cooperative abilities in order for students to become lifelong learners.

Uganda Martyrs Catholic School (Happy Hill R.C) is home to students from the surrounding communities of Brizan, Happy Hill, Beausejour, Moliniere, Grand Mal, Cherry Hill, Fontenoy, Concord, Grand Roy, Marigot and as far as Dudmar in St. David’s.

Currently, three hundred and twenty-one students between the ages of five and twelve are enrolled at the school, 131 girls and 190 boys. Most of these students come from homes headed by single parents (mainly women) and from low socioeconomic background.

 

The school’s characteristic reflects its philosophy which states that” we believe every child possess a variety of intelligences, drives and curiosities.”

 

Uganda Martyrs Catholic (Happy Hill R.C) is dedicated to enhance the many ways that children are smart and creative, and with parents and other stakeholders as partners we pledge to develop the full genius that is part of every child’s promise.

Our Staff

 

The teaching staff compliment of twenty consists of two university grads- the principal, and a Literacy Co-coordinator; twelve teachers with university Certificates in Education and five with college Associate Degrees.  Three males and sixteen females.

Additionally, there are three teaching assistants, two cooks, an assistant cook and a librarian from the Youth Empowerment program.

The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is a religious building belonging to the Catholic Church. It serves as the mother church for the growing Christian Catholic Community of almost 53% of the population, in 21 parishes and missions spread throughout the islands in the Diocese of St. George's in Grenada and the Grenadines.
