Pastoral Care for the Sick and Shut-In

Ministry to the Sick and Shut-in:

To share the love of God and the hope of healing, based on the Christian faith.

Ministry Vision for the Sick and Shut-in :

To provide a personal touch and minister through calls, cards, prayer and offering communion to ensure that members continue to feel part of Greater Progressive – even during seasons of illness or life changes that prevent them from worshipping with their church family.

Ministry Scripture Reference:

“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” – James 5:14-15

Ministry Description/Purpose for the Sick and Shut-in :

The ministry checks on and communicates with the sick and shut-in of the church through visitation, calls and prayers. On a monthly basis, the ministry offers in coordination with the church’s Deacons the ability for the sick and shut in to still participate in the sacrament of Communion.
